Education & Training
Dr. Freizinger received her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University and completed her predoctoral internship at Laurelwood Hospital in Cleveland, where she specialized in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) approaches to eating disorders. Her training also includes clinical work at Cambridge Hospital and the Behavioral Neurology Unit at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. In 2006, she was selected as a Murphy Fellow in the Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Mental Health Center DBT Program.
Clinical Experience
Dr. Freizinger has worked as a clinician, researcher, and consultant in the Boston area, treating individuals with eating disorders, addictions, personality disorders, and anxiety disorders across a range of clinical settings. These include the Behavioral Medicine Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Two Brattle Center, and the Psychopharmacology Research Unit at Boston University Medical Center. In addition to direct clinical care, she has been deeply involved in program development and served as the clinical director for several local eating disorder treatment programs, including residential levels of care.
Dr. Freizinger has more than 25 years of clinical expertise working with adolescents, young adults, adults, and families using evidence-based modalities. Her clinical focus includes anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, anxiety disorders, and mood dysregulation. She is certified in Family-Based Treatment (FBT)—recognized by the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine as the first-line treatment for adolescents with restrictive eating disorders—and has advanced training in both DBT and CBT.

Dr. Freizinger is licensed to practice in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Florida, Ohio, Vermont, and Virginia.
She is a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders, the Massachusetts Psychological Association, and the Multi-Service Eating Disorders Association. She is also a certified Family-Based Treatment therapist.
